Member Notice: P.E.I. Government Considers Tax-Inclusive Pricing
RCC Presentation to Government Strongly Opposed Unnecessary and Costly Legislation

In mid-November 2008, Prince Edward Island Liberal MLA Alan McIsaac introduced a Private Member's Bill, Bill 101: An Act to Amend the Revenue Tax Act. The Bill proposed the introduction of a legislated tax-inclusive pricing structure for the province which, if passed into law, would require retailers to include taxes in the shelf-price presented to consumers prior to check-out. In early December, Bill 101 successfully passed first reading and was sent to the Standing Committee on Community Affairs and Economic Development for public consultation in January.
