Member Alert: For Retailers Selling Household Hazardous Materials In Ontario

On October 12, Ontario Environment Minister John Wilkinson announced an end to Phases 2 and 3 of the Municipal Hazardous and Special Waste (MHSW) program that took effect on July 1, 2010. After consultations with Retail Council of Canada (RCC), the government acknowledged the program was too complex and difficult for retailers, particularly smaller merchants, to execute and was confusing for consumers.
