The Government has included in its Budget Bill a number of major amendments to the Competition Act. These changes represent a serious challenge to the retail trade because they would greatly increase the power and leverage of the Competition Bureau when it is investigating the marketing practices of a retailer. Retailers fought off many of these changes when they were introduced by a previous Government in Bill C-19. RCC will oppose these changes again.
