All retailers should be aware that stores in the Vancouver area are being targeted by con artists posing as POS service providers. In one case, four to five men, professionally dressed, entered a store and asked to see the store manager about doing a POS upgrade. This upgrade was neither asked for, nor authorized, by the retailer. The purpose was presumably to replace the existing unit with a unit containing a card reader in order to steal pin numbers and other debit and credit card information.
